Join us for our Sunday School Closing Concert at 11 AM on Sunday, June 14th!

Sunday School

First Baptist Hammonds Plains has Sunday School classes for all children from tots through teens. Children typically graduate from our Sunday School when they graduate from high school.

Our Sunday School classes are small and fun, with a lot of personal attention to the spiritual needs of each student, provided by highly committed and experienced  Sunday School teachers.

Children participate in Bible study through crafts, songs and games. They also participate in a Christmas Concert and a Sunday School Closing Concert each year. This year the oldest children completed a special project called God's Women in Action. They produced sermon messages and a newsletter to share what they have learned about the actions and accomplishments of women in the Bible. They have also produced a website to communicate their learnings from the project.

Sunday School children also enjoy outings such as lunches, socials, and bowling. Sunday School classes are held during the regular worship services at 11 AM on Sunday mornings from September through June.

Youth Ministry

The church structures its children's ministry to best meet the needs of the ages of the children in its spiritual care. As a result, activities change depending on the children participating.

The youth ministry provides many opportunities for children of all ages to actively participate in the regular morning worship service, in addition to their Sunday School classes. Each worship service includes a Children's Corner where children of all ages are brought forward within the congregation to listen to a children's story.

In addition to the children's story, youth members participate in the music ministry, Christian drama and story telling. In addition to helping our children to grow in the Holy Spirit, these activities also allow them to gain confidence and self-esteem in a place where they are both loved and valued.

Activities for older youth have also included visits to Baptist Conventions and youth conferences, participation in fundraisers and variety shows, and giving sandwiches and hot beverages to the homeless people in Halifax.
